The three-arched concrete gateway on Airport Road that welcomes you into the capital.
Built in 1991 as the seat of government moved from Lagos to Abuja, the City Gate is a national monument and the city's ceremonial front door. It's about 25 metres tall, with two big inverted columns framing the Nigerian flag and the coat of arms over the central arch.
Most people see it from the car on the way in from the airport, but it's a classic first photo in Abuja. A 2026 report said it's due a renovation adding a fountain and a recreation area.
